Lugano and its surroundings: sports, art, culture and music

The region round Lake Lugano is a popular destination for both tourists and those on business trips. It has a typical Mediterranean atmosphere with it's crystal clear lake surrounded by mountains, offering visitors a relaxing and restful setting from which to take interesting walks or energetic mountain bike rides all year round. Thanks to an extensive number of tracks of different distances and difficulties, there is an infinite choice for everyone to select, from families with children to people of the older generation, from the younger and fitter to those who normally lead a sedentary lifestyle. Golfing enthusiasts will be in heaven in the Region: there are a number of courses available at the various Golf Clubs in the area, all surrounded by unblemished nature and unforgettable landscapes.

Lugano and its surrounding area is also a popular destination for those who love to go shopping and have fun, tasting the typical local dishes. For those tempted to try their fortunes there is also the Casino of Lugano, with its elegant and exclusive atmosphere, situated centrally on the city's lakeshore and which is also an excellent meeting point.

The region is rich in places of interest, both artistic and cultural, such as the Castles of Bellinzona, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000, and Mount San Giorgio also a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2003. Melide, just a few kilometers from Lugano, has a permanent exhibition called Swissminiatur: this is an open-air exhibit of the typical Swiss territory in miniature. The Hotel's staff is available to arrange personalised visits to all corners of the Region for their guests.

LAC (Lugano Arte e Cultura)
Designed by the architect, Ivano Gianola, LAC aspires to reinforcing the identity of Lugano as the preferred meeting place of artistic and cultural activities in Europe. The centre will have a theatre and concert hall for 1,000 people which will host all kinds of performances, a museum space for temporary exhibits and for the Museum of Art's collection, together with a studio theatre and multifunctional rooms. The piazza outside the Centre will be the largest open space in Lugano and has a new underground car park with three permanent installations of works by the Ticino artist Felice Varinin.

Hotel Delfino Lugano is situated in a strategic position with its welcoming and comfortable rooms, its irreplaceable organisational support by its team of excellent staff, and is certainly the ideal place to stay and arrange visits to both these events.
